A commission period close that stays auditable

How to move from rules and assignments to an approved ledger without rewriting history.

A reliable commission close is a sequence of evidence checks. Commission Ledger keeps the calculation visible, but the merchant still owns the rule and payment decision.

Freeze the inputs you intend to use

Review the active rule versions, rep assignments and period dates before calculating. If a rule or assignment is still ambiguous, fix it in the open workflow rather than adding a compensating adjustment later.

Inspect representative entries and totals

Open entries across the relevant reps and bases. Check the source order, line-item filter, attribution source, rule version, refund treatment and amount. Reconcile the rep totals with the order-level rows before approval.

Separate corrections from concealment

Use an adjustment only for a real, documented business correction and include a reason. A rule change belongs in a new rule version. A later refund belongs in the next open period as a signed clawback, not as a silent rewrite of a locked period.

Close and export

Approve and lock once the review is complete, export the ledger and record the external payment state separately. The app does not run payroll or move money. See the Commission Ledger data boundary for stored records and deletion.
